Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of Mosman-Neutral Bay Rifle Club
Upcoming Centenary of the Mosman-Neutral Bay Rifle Club
27th March 2015
"On Wednesday the 3rd February 1915, in response to a public announcement, a well attended public meeting was held in the Mosman Town Hall. The Empire was in the throes of the Great War of 1914-18 and the residents of Mosman and Neutral Bay wanted a Rifle Club and Training Corps wherein the rudiments of drill and military discipline might be learned and from which recruits for service abroad might be enlisted and recruiting influence derived".
C.H. Cromack - Club President 1951-52
Following the response of the public meeting, the Club held its initial General Meeting on the 27th March 1915 at the Mosman Town Hall.
This was the birth of Mosman-Neutral Bay Rifle Club. It is now approaching its 100th Anniversary.
The 27th March 2015 will be a Friday, so on or about this date we would like to celebrate this great occasion with as many of our Club members, past and present as possible.
Mosman Council in association with the club put on an exhibition at Mosman Library of documents and photographs from the time of the Club's formation.
We are now actively looking for more ideas on how to mark the occasion as well as to begin to reconnect with past members who may wish to join us and re-live their time with the club, and we hope by March 2015 to have some great ways to celebrate the Club’s 100th birthday. It is never too soon to begin, so start thinking and start talking to other members about your ideas.
